Széll Kálmán Student Association's students visited the Paks Nuclear Power Plant on a study trip
The students of the Széll Kálmán College of Economic and Data Science at Széchenyi István University recently participated in a study trip, during which they visited Hungary's most significant nuclear facility, the Paks Nuclear Power Plant. The aim of the event was to provide students with first-hand knowledge about one of the key pillars of the country's energy production, as well as to expand their professional and scientific perspectives. During the visit, participants gained insight into the operation of the power plant, learned about the application of nuclear technology, and explored its economic and environmental aspects.
The study visit was made possible with the joint support of the National Conference of Student Governments – Stipendium Hungaricum Mentor Network and the University Student Government, providing an opportunity for both domestic and international students of the College for Advanced Studies to gain a unique professional experience. "During the organization, we placed great emphasis on ensuring that as many students as possible could participate in the trip. The visit was not only highly valuable from a professional perspective but also played a significant role in building a strong community. Participants had an experience that could contribute to their academic development and career path in the long run," said Dr. Eszter Sós, research coordinator of the Economics and Data Science College and the main organizer of the program.
The Széll Kálmán College extended the opportunity to other specialized colleges as well, fostering stronger professional connections between student communities. One of the key objectives of the event was to enable students from various academic disciplines to explore the significance of nuclear technology together and share their insights with one another.
For the College, it is of paramount importance that its members gain professional experiences beyond their academic studies, extending traditional educational frameworks. "These study trips not only serve to expand knowledge but also contribute to strengthening our members' research and professional orientation," emphasized Dr. László Buics, Program Director of the College.
The Széll Kálmán College of Economic and Data Science remains committed to organizing professional programs in the future, ensuring that its members have opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in practice and actively engage with both domestic and international professional communities.
