VII. Dawn Of Eurasia Conference 2024
On December 6, 2024, the VII. Dawn of Eurasia Conference was held in Budapest, organized by the Eurasia Center and the Hungarian-Chinese Youth Friendship Association. The conference featured presentations by students pursuing BA, MA, and doctoral studies whose research areas are related to the region's economic, political, technological, financial, and infrastructural processes. Our faculty was represented at the conference by Assistant Lecturer Éva Heimné Rácz.
The conference was opened by a speech from Dr. Levente Horváth, Director of the Eurasia Center at Neumann János University, followed by remarks from Dr. habil. Tamás Ferenc Fülöp, Rector of Neumann János University, and Professor Dr. István Szilágyi, Editor-in-Chief of the Eurázsia Szemle journal.
Following the opening speeches, participants listened to a roundtable discussion on 'The Transformation of the World Order, Global Perspectives, and Future Visions' moderated by Associate Professor Dr. Péter Szatmári, Vice-Rector for General and Development Affairs at Milton Friedman University. The discussion featured contributions from Associate Professor Dr. habil. Gergely Salát, Head of the Chinese Department at PPKE BTK and Senior Researcher at the Hungarian Institute of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Csaba Moldicz, Head of the International Relations School and Foreign Economic Workshop at MCC; and Professor Dr. László Csicsmann, Head of the BCE Corvinus Center for Contemporary Asia Studies and Senior Researcher at the Hungarian Institute of Foreign Affairs.
In the afternoon session of the conference, 23 students shared their research findings with the participants across five sections. The topics included security policy areas, Europe-Asia relations, geopolitical and economic geography implications for Eurasia.
The organizing Eurasia Center also provides publication opportunities for researchers whose research areas are related to Eurasian processes in the Eurázsia Szemle journal. The next Dawn of Eurasia Conference is expected to be held in May 2025.
