Hungarian Academy of Sciences has announced the 2025 Bolyai János Research Fellowship application
The Bolyai János Research Fellowship is aimed at supporting high-quality scientific research and helping researchers prepare for obtaining the title of Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). The fellowship is available for all fields and disciplines of science.
Date and Location of the Grant:
The research must be conducted at a scientific institution in Hungary.
The submission deadline for applications is March 7, 2025, at 12:00 PM (CET).
Main Topics and Target Audience:
The fellowship is open to Hungarian citizens and Hungarian researchers from abroad who meet the following criteria:
- Hold a higher education degree and a PhD (or equivalent scientific qualification).
- Have not yet turned 45 at the time of application (an age extension of two years per child is available for researchers with children).
- Have not yet obtained the title "Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences" (DSc).
- Plan to conduct research at a Hungarian scientific institution and can provide proof of acceptance from the institution.

Participation Fees and Additional Details:
- There is no application fee.
- Successful applicants must be employed at a Hungarian scientific institution for at least 20 hours per week during the fellowship period.
- For Hungarian researchers from abroad, an exception to the employment requirement may be granted, but they must still provide proof of acceptance from a Hungarian research institution.
