Introduction of Associate Professor Jewel Kumar Roy
Jewel Kumar Roy is a dedicated researcher and academic specializing in Financial Technology (FinTech), machine learning, and artificial intelligence in finance. Currently, he is an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Statistics, Finances and Controlling at Széchenyi István University, where he is also pursuing his PhD at the Doctoral School of Regional and Business Administration Sciences.
His research focuses on machine learning methods for credit risk assessment in marketplace lending platforms within the context of big data. He holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Financial Technology (FinTech) from the University of Stirling, UK, and a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Finance, along with a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Financial Management from Savitribai Phule Pune University, India.
His academic journey has been marked by numerous prestigious scholarships, including Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship (Hungary), Commonwealth Shared Scholarship (UK) and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Scholarship (India). Before his current role, Jewel Kumar Roy served as an Assistant Professor (on study leave) in the Department of Finance and Banking at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Bangladesh and also worked as a Lecturer at both Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University and Daffodil International University, Bangladesh. His research interests encompass FinTech, credit scoring, risk management, and the transformation of financial markets through AI and machine learning. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed international and Scopus-indexed journals and has contributed as a reviewer for several high-impact journals. Additionally, he has conducted seminars and training programs on financial technology in collaboration with various academic and industry organizations.
