The aim of the study is to investigate the usage patterns of lifestyle apps (fitness, nutrition and relaxation apps) and the role of usability factors (ease of use, satisfaction with the app interface and usefulness) in overall satisfaction. An online survey conducted in Hungary reached 348 users - 30.2% fitness, 31.3% nutrition and 38.5% relaxation apps. Respondents preferred free apps and mainly used iOS operating systems.
The research used the PLS-SEM method to investigate correlations.
The results show that "ease of use" and "satisfaction with the app interface" have a positive effect on user satisfaction, while efficiency (positive health outcomes) paradoxically has a negative effect. The results may be particularly useful for app developers, as usability and design play a key role in increasing user satisfaction.
