“The Economic Dimensions of Decision-Making – What Does an Economist Really Do?” Successfully Concluded

During the first semester of the 2025/26 academic year, the admission preparatory program titled The Economic Dimensions of Decision-Making – What Does an Economist Really Do? was successfully completed. The program aimed to introduce high school students to economic thinking, with a particular focus on the key areas of tourism, economics, finance, and marketing. A total of 44 students applied to the program and worked throughout the semester on the development of a complex professional project.

The participants’ task was to design a restaurant with a unique selling proposition (USP). The project required a comprehensive approach, including the analysis of the tourism environment, the examination of economic-management and financial sustainability aspects, and the application of modern – especially digital – marketing tools. The goal was to create a concept capable of meeting the expectations of sustainable tourism and changing consumer demands.

The closing event of the program took place on 20 January 2026 as part of the university’s Open Day event. The finalists presented their projects in the form of professional presentations. During the event, five participants introduced their concepts to the professional jury and defended their proposals by answering questions.

The objective of the program is to provide high school students, even before entering higher education, with a comprehensive understanding of the diversity of the economics profession, while also developing their economic mindset, problem-solving abilities, and presentation skills. The organizers would like to congratulate all participants on their preparation and on the high-quality projects submitted.
