Members of the Széll Kálmán International Scientific Student Association of Széchenyi István University have started the new semester with outstanding success, receiving several prestigious scholarships in recognition of their academic excellence, professional achievements, community engagement and sporting performance. The results represent another important milestone for the Association and demonstrate the diverse forms of excellence present within its student community.

A particularly significant achievement is that eight members of the Association received the National Higher Education Scholarship (Nemzeti felsőoktatási ösztöndíj), awarded by the Ministry of Education and Children’s Affairs on the basis of outstanding academic performance as well as exceptional professional and public activities.

The scholarship recipients are Péter Mesterházy, Noémi Szabó and Bendegúz Kraus from Business Administration and Management, Patrik Eszes from International Business Economics, Gábor Pék from Mechanical Engineering, Viktória Varga from Human Resources Counselling, András Aschenbrenner from Leadership and Management, and Dorina Bosits from the Law programme.

Members of the Association were similarly successful in the Student Scholarship of the Foundation for Széchenyi István University, which supports talented and high-performing students in their continued academic and professional development. András Aschenbrenner, Dorina Bosits, Patrik Eszes, Péter Mesterházy, Gábor Pék and Márk Szalay were among the recipients of this scholarship.

The diversity of the scholarship recipients is particularly noteworthy. While the Széll Kálmán International Scientific Student Association operates within the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics, its community brings together talented students from different programmes and disciplines, creating an environment where members can learn from one another and develop through interdisciplinary cooperation.

Excellence within the Association also extends beyond academic and professional performance. Katalin Anna Pataki, a Business Administration and Management student and member of the Association, received the Elite Athlete Scholarship of the Foundation for Széchenyi István University. The scholarship supports students who achieve outstanding results in competitive sport alongside their university studies. Pataki competes in rowing and alpine skiing, demonstrating how high-level sporting commitment and university studies can successfully complement one another.

Individual excellence supported by a community

The scholarship results reflect one of the fundamental principles behind the Széll Kálmán International Scientific Student Association: talent development should not be limited to a single activity or achievement, but should support the long-term development of the student as a whole.

The Association has therefore developed a structured, research-oriented student career model in which scientific research, mentoring, professional development, competitions, international opportunities, leadership experience and community responsibility reinforce one another.

Students are encouraged to identify their individual strengths and ambitions while receiving opportunities to develop research and analytical skills, participate in TDK and OTDK, contribute to scientific publications, attend conferences, compete in national and international case study competitions, work with academic mentors and industry professionals, and gradually take responsibility for managing the Association itself.

An important characteristic of this model is that students are not regarded merely as participants in programmes. As they progress, they increasingly become active contributors to the development of the community, mentoring younger students, organizing programmes, managing departments and projects, and helping create opportunities for the next generation of members.

According to Dr. László Buics, Program Director of the Széll Kálmán International Scientific Student Association, the scholarship results are therefore particularly meaningful because they recognize several dimensions of student excellence.

“We are extremely proud of our students, because these scholarships recognize not only excellent academic performance, but also the continuous professional work, commitment and responsibility that characterize our community. Our talent development philosophy is based on creating an environment in which motivated students receive opportunities, mentoring and responsibility, but are also encouraged to continuously challenge themselves and support one another. The success of our members shows that this approach can contribute to excellence in many different areas.”

The latest scholarship achievements therefore represent more than a collection of individual successes. They highlight a community in which academic excellence, scientific ambition, professional development, student responsibility and personal achievement are mutually reinforcing.

For the Széll Kálmán International Scientific Student Association, the new semester thus begins with another reason to be proud of its members—and with the continued objective of providing an environment in which talented students can turn their abilities and ambitions into measurable achievements.
