Széchenyi István University launched its lean specialist and lean manager postgraduate programs three years ago at the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics. These programs focus on process improvement, cost-efficiency, and waste reduction. A key aim of the training is hands-on experience: with access to the university’s demonstration lab, simulated production lines, and company visits (such as Audi’s plant in Győr), participants gain real-world insights.
In addition, the university cooperates with the Leannovation Association to organize monthly Lean Coffee events. These sessions bring together professionals applying lean methods to share experiences and collaboratively find solutions for improving manufacturing and service processes.
Dr. Attila Kurucz, lead instructor of the program, emphasized the importance of practical application and highlighted the popularity of the courses among industry professionals. Sándor Pető, co-chair of Leannovation, added that the goal of the Lean Coffee meetups is to foster open knowledge sharing and promote efficiency within corporate culture.
Through its training programs and Lean Coffee events, Széchenyi István University plays a key role in offering regional businesses real opportunities for waste-free value creation—while enabling participants to earn a competitive, recognized qualification.
