The 2025/2026 academic year marked another milestone in the development of the Széll Kálmán International Scientific Student Association of the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics, Széchenyi István University. Through outstanding scientific achievements, international competition successes, organizational development, and expanding professional partnerships, the Association continued to strengthen its position as one of the University’s leading research-oriented talent development communities.

Throughout the academic year, students actively participated in scientific research, conferences, case study competitions, and professional development programs, while the Association further expanded its mentoring system, international collaborations, and student-led organizational structure.

One of the most significant milestones of the year was the successful completion of the national accreditation process, during which the Association received the “Promising Student Association” status. This recognition acknowledges the continuous development of the organization and confirms the professional foundations upon which its future growth can be built.

Scientific excellence remained at the heart of the Association’s activities. Since its foundation, members have collectively produced more than 150 Scientific Students’ Conference (TDK) papers, participated in 16 National Scientific Students’ Conference (OTDK) presentations, published numerous scientific publications, including papers in Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 international journals, and represented the University at 59 national and international scientific conferences.

The current academic year also brought exceptional competition results. Members of the Association achieved third place at the national logistics case study competition organized by the Club of Corporate Logistics Leaders (NLVK)—the first podium finish ever achieved by students of the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics at this prestigious event. The Association also earned second place at the international CEEPUS Green Hackathon, while teams successfully represented the University at the Modul Business Championship in Vienna and the Susánszky National Case Study Competition in Miskolc.

The spring semester produced another record in scientific achievement. Twenty-five members participated in the University’s Scientific Students’ Conference, resulting in 5 first places, 2 second places, 2 third places, 6 special awards, and 15 OTDK nominations, further demonstrating the effectiveness of the Association’s integrated talent development model.

Beyond scientific achievements, the Association continued to strengthen its international profile. Students represented the University at international competitions, welcomed visiting French students from the IDRAC Business School through academic and networking events such as the World Café program, and actively promoted the integration of international students into the University’s academic community through its English-language operation.

According to Dr. László Buics, Program Director of the Association, these achievements reflect much more than individual successes.

“The strength of our Association lies in its community. We have built an environment where research, mentoring, innovation, and teamwork reinforce one another. Our goal is not only to prepare students for competitions or publications, but to develop future researchers, professionals, and leaders who can create value both within academia and in industry.”

Looking ahead, the Association has set ambitious goals for the coming years. Alongside expanding international partnerships, increasing publication activity, and further strengthening its mentoring system, preparations have already begun for organizing the first Kautz Business Championship, an international English-language case study competition that aims to bring together talented university students and corporate partners from across the region.

By combining scientific excellence, practical business experience, international cooperation, and a strong sense of community, the Széll Kálmán International Scientific Student Association continues to contribute to the strategic objectives of Széchenyi István University while providing outstanding opportunities for the next generation of researchers and professionals.
